Fethiye Kemal Mumcu Anatolian High School from Ankara Turkiye hosted the meeting of partners of the National Parks of Europe Comenius Project from 7th April to 12th April 2013.
7th April 2013
It was the day of our guests arrived. Each group was met by the coordinator teachers from our school and host families at the airport or at the bus station in Ankara. The teachers were hosted in a hotel in the centre.
8th April 2013
Our school programme started at 9:30 am. All the staff, students welcomed guest teachers and students. The opening ceremony started with our national anthem. The governor of Keçiören District,Nusret Dirim , the Directorate of National Education , Hüseyin YurtoÄ?lu and the headmaster of our school Hamit YalçÄ?n made speeches. They mentioned the importance of such kind of meetings, cultural sharings, environmental issues related to the Project. During the programme a mini folk dance performance had been prepared by our students. Also a traditional music instruments were introduced by a group of students with a few Turkish songs. A special surprise from Hungary was applauded. One of the Hungarian teacher read a poem in Turkish namely “Ihlamurlar Çicek AçtÄ?Ä?Ä? Zaman”.
After the opening ceremony, teachers had a tour about the school. The new system in our school, “Fatih Project” was introduced in the ICT lab by one of our Chemistry teacher, Hasan Çabuk. After the tour, teachers were welcomed by Turkish food by the host families.They all had the chance of tasting different traditional food. Then the students had two workshops one in the garden painting a special graffiti work by the art and design teacher, Gül YÄ?ldÄ?rÄ?m,to get a memory from the project and as a second, to learn some folklore dance for getting to know each other. As teachers we had a meeting in the library. The task that was decided in Sopot, Bulgaria Meeting was discussed. The dictionary workshop was analysed. Each team was asked to check their information and it was decided to put this job into our project web page as a product of our aim. And the main coordinator of the project Mrs Magda Szewczyk reminded us to revise our task for the next meeting in Zagreb, Croatia , the evaluation survey.
9th April 2013
On Tuesday the teachers and students all together went to SoÄ?uksu National Park in KÄ?zÄ?lcahamam. Firstly, the mayor of KÄ?zÄ?lcahamam was visited. He welcomed us in his office and informed us about the national park and the new Geo park in KÄ?zÄ?lcahamam. After having a photo in front of the main building, we all went ahead inside the park. The excursion took an hour. At the top we visited fossiled trees. Our guide of the park gave information about the environment during the walk. After lunch the teams returned to Ankara and had free time to rest.
10th April 2013
The day started very early at 5:30 am in the morning to the natural beauty of central Anatolia, Cappadocia. We visited the open air museum in Zelve, Göreme and the underground city in KaymaklÄ?.
11th April 2013
The groups were met at school with the city tour bus. First, the guests were taken to AnÄ?tkabir. The groups were guided by a professional guides and given information about Atatürk’s life and his contributions. Then the group visited the museum inside. Next, the group photo was taken. After that, they were given certificates by the directorate of AnÄ?tkabir. In the afternoon the guests were taken to one of the most famous landmarks of Ankara , Kocatepe Mosque. Then they visited Old Ankara and Ankara Fortress in Hamamönü. In the evening, students had a farewell party by their host friends. And for the teachers a solemn dinner was prepared to celebrate the end of the meeting with their certificates and plates.
12th April
The groups were taken to bus station and airport to depart to their countries.
We would like to thank to all partners for joining the meeting with their great enthusiasms and kindness. We also would like to thank to our school headmaster, teachers and students and their families with their help for the preparation of the meeting and the organisation.
