The meeting of Comenius project ’’The national parks of Europe 2011-2013’’
The fourth meeting was held on 7th-11th of May,2012. It was at PanevÄ???ys’’VerdenÄ?’’ basic school in Lithuania. The participants: teachers and students came from Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Poland and Croatia. It is the fourth meeting of all program which is planned in 2011-2013.
The purpose of Conmenius project is comparing the eighth national parks of Europe,their flora and fauna. So guests arrived to meet the national park of Aukštaitija(the national park of highland), to compare fauna in their countries with other parks‘ fauna,to develop relationship between countries-Comenius partners.
First day started with meeting teachers and students wearing traditional Lithuanian clothes. The headmistress J??ratÄ? PauliukienÄ? and all teachers involved to the project waited for the guests in traditional clothes and according to the Lithuanian traditiona they were treated with black bread, salt and curd cheese. Lithuanian educational system, school‘s community and all school surrounding were introduced for the guests from countries-partners. School‘s students made mini-concert, the headmistress said greetings for all guests. Later teachers and students were called to go around school and try traditional cakes made by our students parents and themselves. After that, they were asked to present the slides they had prepared at home. So all teams were asked to present the fauna from their national parks. So Lithuanian, Turkish, Polish, Italian, Bulgarian and 2 Croatian groups had opportunity to present the fauna in their national parks. After lunch hat day the guests were taken to the centre of PanevÄ???ys. They had opportunity to visit our town, to meet the most famous places in PanevÄ???ys, to study some historical facts about the fifth city in Lithuania.The guide took to the most beautiful places of city‘s centre.The same day the guests met the city mayor- Vitalijus SatkeviĨius.The mayor presented our green town, introduced the system of municipality, presented some business ideas which is possible in PanevÄ???ys. Later students came back to school for the party and games between each other. They enjoyed that very much.
The second day, which was spent together with our guests, was Wednesday. The day started with a quiz which was made about all national parks.Every team was appreciate to participate. All got prizes and had a lot of fun. After lunch they were called to visit the national park of Aukštaitija. The trip took 2,5 hours to it. So our quests were taken to the main important places of the park-The beekeeping museum in Stripeikiai, Pal??šÄ?, Ladakalnis, GinuĨiai Watermill. All quests were keen on calmness, variety of colours, wonderful places, the trees blossomming. The highest top was Ladakalnis, where they were asked to count six lakes, to take a stone near the oak, to make a wish, to sing and dance in Lithuanian. Later we went to have dinner in the traditional restaurant Romnesa, where you can hind the history of tree-cake making. The restaurant made a good presentation of some Lithuanian traditions. After returning our sutdents made the football match in school‘s hall.
On Thrusday all students and teachers were taken to Burbiškiai mansion. The spring is wonderful time when the tulips blossom, so our guests got opportunity to see that view and not only to see, but to paint tulips as well. For the reason, our school has the developing ideas in art, the activity – the painting of tulips was involved to the program. All enjoyed that activity as well. They made a huge carpet of all painted tulips.
It was amazing, wonderful, very colourful and untraditional. After lunch we have taken our colleagues and students from other countries to AnykšÄ¨iai. Ni??ronys is a place where you can find the educational program‘‘The bread making‘‘. So the guests were asked to sit and listen about traditions of bread making, equipment was presented as well. All participants had opportunity to make their own loaf of bread. It was wonderful to observe their faces, they were shining at that moment. During the break, while the bread were put to the oven, all were asked to dance traditional Lithuanian dances. After dances the traditional Lithuanian dinner was given to all our guests. Our headmistress said the last greetings and asked to give greetings for all headmasters and headmistresses. She sent the personal present to all schools-participants.
Later that day we visited one of the biggest stone in Lithuania-Puntukas and the light of happiness. We made a promise never to forget Comenius project and all participants. Lithuanian students made a leaving party for their foreign friends.
On Friday the rest of participants: Polish and Croatian teams were taken to Vilnius.We visit the European park near Vilnius, the city centre of Vilnius and ‘‘Labas‘‘ attraction park.
All five days were like one hour. The time went very quickly. Host students and their parents and students from other countries, who lived in families, made friends and it was difficult to leave till the next meeting in Bulgaria. We say many thanks to European commission for this huge opportunity to communicate and present wonderful ideas.
