Report of a teacher
Despite of 50 cm snow and -15 grade Celsius, most of our partners in the project decided to come to Pusztamérges, Hungary, and take part of the second meeting on 7-11 th February 2012. All arrived guests, teachers and students, had accommodation in the student’s hostel, so we all were together while the project work and in our free time.
On Thursday, we started our programme with the opening ceremony in our Comenius room, where you can see the photos about the meeting in Poland and our excursions to the Kiskunság National Park. After the opening speech of the Hungarian Headmaster, Gábor Kónya, Hungarian students spoke about the Pusztamérges Secondary School, about our village and region. In the short break we took some photographs of the international group in front of the school.
Everyone waited excited the presentations which were prepared in the last weeks by every group. We could see also the presentation of the Italian group about rules of the National Park, too, however they couldn’t come because of the disadvantageous weather conditions. After presenting our work we had lunch together in the school canteen. In the afternoon we started with project work. Theachers discussed about the evaluation survay of the project, while students worked on the common and different prescriptions and rules in the national parks.
In the evening participiants had opportunity to learn about the local winery and teachers tasted the wine made in Pusztamérges. After dinner you could hear traditional hungarian folk music: in a short dance-house-programm guests learned traditional Hungarian dance „csárdás” while students of our school played dance music on the traditional music instrument cither.
With tired feed but in very good mood we sat down in mixed groups and played a quiz about Europe: cultural, geographical and historical questions had to be answered. The winner group won a big cake with the symbols of Europe.
On the next day, Friday, all the participiants travelled to Szeged, the nearest city. We visited the University of Szeged, and listened to a lection about ”The Oecological Characteristics of the Fülöpháza Sand Dunes and Bugacpuszta (Kiskunsági National Park)”.
After the lection we walked to the Fisherman’s Tavern of Roosevelt Square and ate tradicitonal spicy fish soup, which warmed us up to be able to walk in the cold, but beautiful city of Szeged. Tired of the sightseeing we enjoyed the bath in Napfényfürd?? (”Sunshine”) Aquapolis Szeged (the aquapark and spa of Szeged).
The next day was the day of our excursion to the National Park of Kiskunság. After a short hiking on the snow-covered dunes of the Kiskunság we had lunch at the Karikás Csárda (a typical Hungarian country tavern) and listened to a presentation about the flora and fauna of the nearest part of the park.
In the evening we arrived back in the school. We said each other farewell in a closing ceremony and dinner in the school canteen, took several photos and talked long in the evening.
On Sunday, groups departed back to their homes with the hope we see each other soon in Italy!
